Beaches, blueberries and birthdays

I will not apologize, at least today for writing about the two hurricaines that serve as a catalast to everything I do. I missed my boys so much, in four weeks time they grew taller, leaner and more mature.

It was their first time on a plane. In Kaid's sweet innocence he watched the in flight status and said "hey we are in Montana, Mom we're almost there." I didn't break it to him immediately. Lane is quite the traveler, he gripped the arm rest of his seat and watched the in flight status most of the trip. Poor guy. We arrived at JFK in the wee hours of the morning, my two boys acted like frequent fliers, they navigated the crowds and air trains.

It has been over a week and they are still excited to be in Connecticut, in spite the incessant humidity. Last weekend we picked twenty pounds of blueberries. We have had blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, blueberries and ice cream, fried blueberries, scalloped blueberries, BBQ blueberries...oh OK maybe not the last few but we have had more than our share.

They have fallen in love with the beach scene. Lane bravely facing the waves and Kaid carving his creations into the sand. I on the other hand keep wondering what I liked about being by the water.

It wasn't until yesterday that it hit them that we are so far away from our family. We called Aidan for his birthday and after we hung up Lane and Kaid asked what time we were going to his party. It broke my heart to tell them..

This is a message from Aidan to Lane and Kaid:
I love you guys. I always wanted you to have a great day at the beach. Thanks for writing my name in the sand. I can't wait to see you and go on an airplane.

I guess I never understood the deep love they have for each other. Aidan looks up to Lane and Kaid. Aidan wanted to hear about the first time he met Lane and Kaid. While telling him I realized that I miss my sister so much that it is easier to focus on the boys right now. I guess all I have to say is that I can't wait to see you all soon either.
